1. Professor Abdul Ghafar Ismail

Professor Abdul Ghafar Ismail is currently head of research division, Islamic Research and Training Division, Islamic Development Bank and professor of banking and financial economics. He is on leave from School of Economics, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. He has been a lecturer since 1987 and has been teaching several economics courses such as money and banking, financial economics, advanced macroeconomics, Islamic economics system, money and capital market in Islam and international finance; Islamic banking; money, zakat and the real economy; risk management in Islamic banking; Islamic financial management.

2. Professor Dr. Mohamad @ Md. Som Sujimon

f02.MohamadSujimonProfessor Dr. Mohamad @ Md. Som Bin Sujimon obtained his Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Faculty of Islamic Jurispendence and Law from Al Azhar University, Cairo, Egypt on 1979. Shortly thereafter, he succesfully completed his Masters of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T), Faculty of Education, Department of Community College, at Mississippi State University (MSU) 3972 in U.S.A (1982) and also received his Ph.D in the Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom. His area of specialization is Shari’ah (Islamic Law) – Islamic Family Law. Besides, his areas of interest are Kitab Jawi Its Scholars and Thought, Islamization of Knowledge, Anthropology-Sociology, Mua’malat (Islamic Finance). Currently, he is a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Johor Islamic Studies College . In addition he also serves as a Deputy Director of Australian Centre for Islamic Financial Studies (ACIFS), Head of Australian Shariah Board for Islamic Financial Studies (ASBIF) and Editor-in Chief for Australian Journal of Islamic Banking and Finance (AJIBF), Brisbane Australia.

3. Professor Dr. Engku Rabiah Adawiah

Professor Dr. Engku Rabiah Adawiah is currently a Professor at IIUM Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance (IIiBF), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). She obtained her LLB (first class honours) and LLB (Shari’ah) (first class honours) from the IIUM. Shortly thereafter, she successfully completed her Masters of Comparative Laws (MCL) from the same university. In 1998, she was conferred with PhD in law from the University of Aberdeen, United Kingdom. She had also served as a member of Shari’ah Committee to a number of financial institutions in the past. Currently, she is a member of the Syariah Advisory Council of Bank Negara Malaysia (Central Bank of Malaysia), Malaysian Securities Commision and Labuan Financial Services Authority (Labuan FSA), and an independent Shari’ah Advisor for Islamic securities (sukuk) issuance, approved by and registered with the Malaysian Securities Commission. In addition, she is also a member of the Shari`ah Board of Labuan Re and Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia, the Shari`ah advisor for Danajamin (2009 – 2010), a member of the Board of Directors in the Malaysian Institute of Islamic Understanding and a member of the disciplinary committee for the Malaysian Bar Council. She is also a member of the Shari`ah Board to Khazanah in relation to two of its exchangeable sukuk that had been issued by Rafflesia Capital Ltd and Cherating Capital Ltd.

Professor Dr. Rusni Hassan

Professor Dr. Rusni Hassan is currently a Deputy Dean of Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance (IIiBF), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). She obtained her LL.B and LL.B (Shari’ah) from UIAM. Shortly thereafter, she successfully completed her Masters of Comparative Laws (MCL) and she holds PhD in law on 2004 from the same university. Currently, she is a member of Shari’ah Committee in Housing Development Financing Corporation Maldives and Shari’ah Advisory Council for IBFIM. In addition, she is a Shariah Advisory Council for Bank Negara Malaysia (2010- 2016) . She had served as a member of Shari’ah Committee at HSBC Amanah (M) Berhad and HSBC Amanah (Takaful) Berhad in the past.

5. Assoc. Prof. Shahida Shahimi

Assoc. Prof. Shahida Shahimi educated at Universiti Malaya on Bachelor of Syariah (Econs.) (Hons) in 1999. She continued her study on Masters of Economics at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in 2001 and completed her Ph.D of Economics from the same university in 2006. Her fields of specialization are Islamic banking and finance, Islamic capital market and Islamic economics. Currently, she is a Head of Research Center for Islamic Economics and Finance (EKONIS-UKM) (2013-2016) and also working as an Editor of Malaysian Journal of Economics, Faculty of Economics and Management, UKM.

6. Dr Muhammad Hakimi Mohd Shafiai

Dr Muhammad Hakimi Mohd Shafiai is the Senior Lecturer, School of Economics, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). He holds a Ph.D. degree from the University of Kyoto, Japan. His undergraduate and Masters Degrees were in the area of Shariah from the University Of Malaya (UM). His areas of interest and expertise include Islamic economics, Islamic finance and agricultural economics.

 

7. Prof.  Dato’ Dr. Haji Mohammad Haji Alias 

Prof.  Dato’ Dr. Haji Mohammad Haji Alias is currently the Research Fellow at Faculty of Management and Muamalah, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM). He holds a Ph.D. degree in 1985 from University of Southampton, U.K . His undergraduate and Masters Degrees were in the area of Economics.  He also holds certificate in Arabic and Advanced Arabic Language from Universiti Of Malaya (UM). Previously in he was Felo Utama FU6 Faculty of Economics and Muamalat USIM.

1. Mr. Mohd Nazri Chik

Mr. Mohd Nazri Chik holds a Bachelor of Shariah (Islamic Jurisprudence) and Masters of Shariah from the University of Malaya. He started his career in Bank Islam was in June 2004 and served the Bank for five years in various designations including Senior Manager – Head of Shariah Division. Currently he is a secretary of the Shariah Supervisory Council, Assistant General Manager – Head of Shariah Division, Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad. Besides, he is an Accredited Trainer for Islamic Banking and Finance Institute of Malaysia and a member of the Shariah Supervisory Council of Amana Bank Limited, Sri Lanka. In addition he has also lectured at the Ibnu Sina Institute for Islamic and Science & Technology Studies and Academy of Islamic Studies, University of Malaya.

2. Mr. Mohd Zamerey Abdul Razak

Mr. Mohd Zamerey Abdul Razak obtained his Bachelor in Shari’ah at Yarmouk University (Jordan). He succesfully completed his Masters in Shari’ah at National University of Malaysia on 2002. Currently, he is pursuing his PhD at University of Malaya in Islamic Commercial Law. He started his career as a teacher at Maahad Kiblah (Bangi). Furthermore, he also worked as Operation Manager (2002) and Head of Sharia’ah in Department of Takaful IKHLAS (2003). Now, he is a Vice President, Head of Shariah Division, for Bank Rakyat.

3. Mrs Suri Hanim Mohamed

Suri Hanim Mohamed is currently the Chief Executive Officer at The Association of Islamic Banking Institutions Malaysia (AIBIM). Previously was a Head of ICBU – Islamic Banking, Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ Bhd. She was also previously a Head of Structuring, Asia Pacific at BNP Paribas Najmah from April 2009 until April 2011. She is holding BA (Hons) in Accounting from University of Portsmouth, United Kingdom. She also obtained Master in Islamic Financial Practice (MIFP) from International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF), Kuala Lumpur. Apart from that she is also a Capital Markets Services Representative Licence Holder under Capital Markets and Services Act 2011, Malaysia.

4. Prof. Dato’ Dr. Ahamed Kameel Mydin Meera

Prof. Dato’ Dr. Ahamed Kameel is currently the Managing Director of the Z Consulting Group. He was a Professor in the Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences, International Islamic University Malaysia and the Dean of the Institute of Islamic Banking & Finance, International Islamic University Malaysia. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Finance from the University of North Texas, Denton, Texas, U.S.A. His undergraduate and Masters Degrees were in the area of Economics from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). His areas of interest and expertise include Financial Markets, Investment Analysis, Macro-Economics, Economics of Social Issues and Quantitative Methods. He has wide experience in teaching, training, consultancy and research in the above areas. His works have been published in local and international journals.

5. Mr Abdul Rahman bin Mohd Yusoff

Mr Abdul Rahman is the Head of Shariah Department, OCBC Al-Amin Bank Berhad. He is also the Deputy President, Grand Council of Charted Institute of Islamic Finance Professionals (CIIF). He holds a Diploma in Banking from Institut Teknologi Mara (ITM), a Bachelor in Finance from Indiana State University, USA and a Master in Business Administration from Morehead State University, USA. He gained experience from various positions in CIMB Malaysia and Hong Kong, Infopro Sdn. Bhd., Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad (BIMB) and Cagamas Berhad.

6. Mr Ahmad Suhaimi Yahya

Mr Ahmad Suhaimi is the Chief Shariah Officer, Hong Leong Islamic Bank Berhad. He holds a degree in Shariah from the Al-Azhar University, Egypt and a Master degree in Shariah from Cairo University, Egypt with First Class Honours. He also holds a professional certification as a Certified Shariah Advisor and Auditor (CSAA) by Accounting and Auditing Organisation for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI) in Bahrain. He is currently the Chairman of Shariah Governance Committee, Association of Islamic Banking Institutions Malaysia (AIBIM), a member of Australian Shariah Board for Islamic Finance (ASBIF), a member of the Board of Studies, Kolej Pengajian Islam Johor (MARSAH) and a member of the Working Committee for the establishment of Islamic Finance Program under Islamic Science University of Malaysia (USIM). Recently, he had also been appointed as a member of the High Shariah Supervisory Board of Central Bank of Oman, nominated by Bank Negara Malaysia for 4 years effective 1 January 2015.

7. Mr Yazit bin Yusuff

Mr Yazit is currently the Director and Head of Islamic Capital Markets, RHB Investment Bank Berhad. He is also the Panel Review Member of Finance Accreditation Agency (FAA) and member of Malaysia Investment Bank Association (MIBA) Islamic Capital Market Committee. He holds a Diploma in Banking Studies from Universiti Teknologi Mara and a Master in Business Administration (Finance) from University of Southern Queensland (USQ), Australia. He gained experience from various positions in Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad (BIMB).

8. Mr Makhtar bin Abdullah

Mr Makhtar is a specialist in Portable International Business Start-up and Organizational Turnaround. He holds a Diploma in Accountancy from Universiti Teknologi Mara and a LLB from International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). He gained experience from various positions in Turnaround Managers Incorporated (Malaysia), EM Consultant, Metro International Advisory, Naber Corporation, Dubai Islamic Finance Centre (DIFC) and Centre for Islamic Banking Finance and Management (CIBFM).

9. Mr Muhamad Shukri Abdullah

Mr Muhamad Shukri is the Associate Director, Finance Accreditation Agency (FAA). He is also the current Industry Advisory Panel (IAP) for Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) and Taylor’s University. In addition, he is one of the panel assessors for Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA). He holds a Diploma in Business Studies from MARA Institute of Technology, a Bachelor in Business Administration with Summa Cum Laude from Ohio University, USA and a Master in Engineering Business Management from University of Warwick, United Kingdom. He gained experience from various positions in Iskandar Investment Berhad (IIB), TIME dotcom, National Heart Institute (IJN) College, Kolej Universiti Teknologi & Pengurusan Malaysia (KUTPM), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and INTEL Penang.
